Club Dinner Puketapu Hotel
Fourteen members assembled at Puketapu Hotel for a mid winter dinner function on Wednesday 22nd June. After pre-dinner drinks the group moved to the dining room and were seated in comfortable conditions to assess the menu. Some ordered from the black board which carried a large selection of mains (fish, pork, beef, shanks, lambs fry, vegetarian etc with backed veg and greens) on special while otheres ordered from the printed menu. A wide range of local wines were available and some ordered their choice as the meal orders were taken. Individual orders covered much of the menu on offer and as the mains arrived from the kitchen expectations of a good evening were hightened as the meals appeared attrctive, well cooked and well presented. The proof was in the eating and everyone said how well cooked and flavoursome and satisfying the food was. A few brave souls ordered sweets and from personal experience it was a struggle to get through it. Coffee was on offer at the end of the meal. The evening was topped off when the bills arrived as the charges were modest in anyone’s book.
A social and convivial evening overall and everyone said we must do this again.
