With the meeting formalities dispensed with we got on with the annual baking competition judging. Our guest judge was unable to attend so the Beer Breads were judged by all present. A show of hands declared Robyn the winner.

Following this Jason gave an interesting talk on the different kinds of stills. He has two types and he told us of the varying efficiencies of each one. He uses his pot still for rums and the like as it leaves in some flavours which add to the characters of the final product. He uses his reflux still to make higher quality and cleaner alcohol when making liqueurs. As well the reflux gives 92% alcohol while the pot still gives around 70%.

Maurice won the raffle which was 3 little pots of Arataki honey.

The Monthly wine competition produced a silver to Tom for his Sweet Red Fruit while in the beer Bob won bronze for his Bitter Pale Ale and David a bronze for his Brown Ale.
