For this meeting night the club visited the Zeelandt Brewery in the Esk Valley on Highway 5. Chris Barker has built a brewery and makes German style beers. He worked in breweries in England and New Zealand before starting out. He does a lot of research before making different styles. He  makes 1200l batches and makes seasonal beer styles. So he is making a Pilsner and a Weissbier for the summer. He has made Helles for Spring and Kolsh for winter.

Chris gave us a good description of his techniques and how he changes then for each style. While he is at a boutique level of production he has an even smaller micro brewery for trialling and experimenting new beers.
