Our Hawkes Bay club did very well at last weekends Nationals. 34 medals were awarded to our club members. Michael Deroles was awarded the McKirkbride cup for Dry White Wine of the Show (a gold medal wine). Bob Avis won best in class for his Merlot (as well as 3 gold medals, a silver and a bronze). Nigel Hurley was awarded the Hauraki BCL Brewmaster trophy, as best brewer (as well as 3 gold medals, 4 silvers and 5 bronzes). Nigel took best in class in the Pilsner and light beer classes, our other best in class winner was; Jim Batten for Belgian Ales (2 golds, 3 silvers and 2 bronzes).

Other club members to be awarded medals were; Brian Henderson (2 golds, 2 silvers and 3 bronzes, David Grant (Silver and Bronze). Two of our newer members entering in their first Nationals were awarded medals as well; Alan Carlisle (Bronze for Specialty beer) Mathew Hurley (two bronzes for Bitter/Pale Ales).
