The Judging for the Wines, Beers and Liqueurs entered in the 2026 Central Region Competition was held on Friday the 2nd of October 2026 in Kawerau, followed that evening by welcome drinks and social catchup for all those attending. Eight members & partners of our Club attended.

Saturday saw a visit to the Essity Kawerau Mill and got a very detailed tour of the factory and saw the production of thousands of Toilet Rolls and other products. Thanks to those involved in hosting and arranging such a wonderful tour.

Following Lunch we were escorted to Waterwheel Historic Trust. This was filled with wonderous relics from the past and staffed by keen engineering enthusiasts. Well worth a visit. All enjoyed their efforts to preserve some of our history.

As is usual, Saturday Night saw a great social meal, followed by the 2026 Central Region Competition awards ceremony. Our members did well with many Gold, Silver and Bronze awards and a good collection of custom made Best Of Class Trophies. Plus Jim won Beer of the Show (again)! Congratulations to all winners.

On Sunday some brave early starters headed to the magnificent Tarawera Falls a 65 Metre waterfall gushing from fissures in the Volcanic rock wall, while the Bi-annual General Meeting was held.

The weekend ended with a farewell BBQ.
Thanks to all the Club Members of Eastern Bay of Plenty -Kawerau Winemakers and Brewers for a wonderful weekend, enjoyed by all.
